CE 1004: Fire Officer II

About This Course

Columbia Southern University has partnered with the Alabama Fire College (AFC) to offer the NFPA 1021: Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications online Fire Officer II training. CE 1004: Fire Officer II is offered as a stand-alone continuing education course that may lead to IFSAC and/or ProBoard certification.

Students will be producing written projects and essays investigating the basic responsibilities and duties of an advanced level Company Officer. With the application of real-world scenarios, students will learn and examine the role of the advanced level Company Officer in delivering emergency services, examining & analyzing fire prevention & investigations; enacting policy & procedure, budget & finance development; and applying concepts such as professional development and personnel management.

Upon successful completion of CE 1004 with a grade of 70% or higher on each assignment, students receive a Certificate of Completion. They will also be eligible to apply for the certification exam administered by the Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards Commission.

These programs are not eligible for Federal Student Aid, military tuition assistance, VA funding or Learning Partner discounts.

Prerequisites to Take Certification Exam

Prerequisites to take the certification exam with Alabama Fire College are as follows:

  • IFSAC or ProBoard Certified Fire Officer I and IFSAC or ProBoard Certified Fire Instructor I.
  • Successful completion of all coursework in CE 1004: Fire Officer II with a grade of 70% of higher on each assignment.
  • For certification testing to occur in another accredited agency’s jurisdiction, AFC must have prior approval from that agency before testing can occur.

NOTE: The student may choose to sit for the Fire Officer II certification exam in their current jurisdiction. In that event, the student is responsible for completion of the requirements for that jurisdiction.

  2. Students who are interested in taking the Fire Officer II Certification exam with Alabama Fire College will be given guidance and the link for application upon successful course completion. Back to IFSAC certificate
  3. Students may request a course extension if the course is not completed within the allotted 10 week time frame. Extension options are available, with associated, non-refundable processing fees. Students who do not complete the course with a 70% or higher within the allotted 10 weeks and do not request a course extension will be removed from the course. Back to duration
