The Ch. 30 Montgomery GI Bill® provides up to 36 months of education benefits to veterans. If eligible, veterans will have up to 10 years, following the release from active duty, to utilize their benefits. For questions concerning eligibility, please contact Veterans Affairs.

  • Paperwork Needed for Enrollment at CSU:
    Veterans will need to submit a copy of the 22-1990 (Application for Education Benefits) or 22-1995 (Request for Change of Program or Place of Training).
  • Veterans may apply for benefits online through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Please note that this paperwork must be provided by the veteran to the VA office and Columbia Southern University; CSU will not forward paperwork to the VA office.
  • Payment Options:
    Students are required to pay out of pocket in order to get started with courses at CSU. Students may elect to pay in full, utilize the payment plan or the VA Flex Payment Plan.
    • Automatic Credit Card Payment Plan
      CSU offers an automatic credit card payment plan for students paying out of pocket. This plan allows students to spread tuition payments out over time by having them automatically charged to a credit card on a pre-set schedule. For the full automatic credit card payment plan, please refer to the Student Handbook.
    • VA Flex Payment Plan
      VA students may place a $99 down payment for the first and second enrollment. Tuition must be paid in full prior to the third enrollment. This VA Flex Payment Plan is not available for Federal Student Aid, Tuition Assistance, Chapter 31, Chapter 33 and/or if students are receiving any other form of financial assistance.
  • VA Monthly Reimbursement Amounts for Chapter 30
  • WAVE System (Web Automated Verification of Enrollment)
    Students utilizing Ch. 30, 1606, and 1607 must verify their enrollment at the end of every month using the WAVE system, which can be done online or by phone.

Chapter 35 Survivors and Dependents Assistance

  • Dependents' Educational Assistance provides education and training opportunities to eligible dependents of certain veterans. The program offers up to 45 months of education benefits. For questions concerning eligibility, please contact Veterans Affairs.

    Students must submit a copy of the 22-5490 (Application for Education Benefits) or 22-5495 (Request for Change of Program or Place of Training); a DD-214 is not required.

      A spouse or dependent of a veteran is considered a learning partner with Columbia Southern University and will receive a 10% discount on their tuition.

Chapter 1606 Selected Reserves
