Orange Beach University Inaugurates President During 25th Commencement

This year, Columbia Southern University (CSU) will celebrate its 25th anniversary and annual commencement ceremony alongside 781 graduates and their guests, a total of 4,300 attendees.

The university is holding the inauguration of its president, Ken Styron, during the event. Graduates and their guests are also invited to attend a service project benefitting the USO Northwest Florida. Event details are as follows:

THURSDAY, OCT. 18, 2018

Open House: 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Columbia Southern University
Open house is an annual event held for graduates and their families. This year, open house will feature caricature drawings, face painting, games and a photo booth.

USO Service Project: 3:30-5 p.m. at the Foley Event Center
In conjunction with its 25th anniversary and presidential inauguration, CSU is hosting its first commencement community service project with the USO Northwest Florida. All 781 graduates are invited to decorate and fill welcome bags for service members who are traveling to the Gulf Coast.

FRIDAY, OCT. 19, 2018

Presidential Inauguration and Commencement Ceremony: 9 a.m. at the Foley Event Center
The 2018 commencement ceremony will feature keynote speaker J.R. Martinez. Martinez is an actor, best-selling author, U.S. Army veteran and winner of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars.” The ceremony will also formally commemorate Styron’s transition into the role of president. Styron’s tenure as president began on May 1, 2018.
