In 2015, for the first year, Columbia Southern University will be partnering with Law Enforcement Exploring to offer a scholarship (up to $12,600) to one of their members. The scholarship will be applied directly to the recipient’s tuition for up to three years or until the completion of the selected online degree program, whichever comes first. This scholarship covers tuition only. Textbooks and fees will be the responsibility of the scholarship recipient. The CSU Book Grant/Loan-a-Book program does not apply to students utilizing a CSU scholarship. Law Enforcement Exploring Scholarship Eligibility Be a member of Law Enforcement Exploring High school transcript or equivalent (GED), Must begin coursework within 90 days of the date of the award Maintain a 2.0 undergraduate GPA or 3.0 graduate GPA Maintain continuous enrollment in his or her degree program Current CSU students must already meet these requirements to be considered. Application The scholarship will open on June 1, 2015. Applicants will be required to submit verification of their membership as well as three short essay questions. The Columbia Southern University scholarship committee will select a winner, and will be announced at a later date. Submissions are no longer being accepted at this time. Its mission is to offer young adults, 14 and have completed the eighth grade and not yet 21 years old, a personal awareness of the criminal justice system through training, practical experiences, competition, and other activities. Additionally, the program promotes personal growth through character development, respect for the rule of law, physical fitness, good citizenship and patriotism. Law Enforcement Exploring is endorsed by numerous professional organizations, to include the International Chiefs of Police Association (IACP) and the National Sheriffs Association (NSA). Law Enforcement Exploring has been in existence since 1959 and is a well established and highly respected program that has served as a platform from which countless young adults have launched a successful career with local, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies.
