Why We Give Back: A Spotlight on CSU’s Community Outreach Team

Did you know that CSU has an entire department dedicated to community outreach? Each year, the CSU faculty and staff work together toward a dedicated goal to create a better place to live, work and play along the Alabama Gulf Coast and beyond. Here are a few of our favorite initiatives.

American Cancer Society: Each year, CSU commits to raising money for the American Cancer Society through a litany of fundraising events including Relay for Life, the annual October raffle for Breast Cancer Awareness, luminaria sales and more.

Turkey Take-Out: Across the nation—and especially in the South—we believe that food is love. That’s why CSU partners with Starbucks, Mellow Mushroom and other local business to donate canned goods and foods, providing a hot Thanksgiving meal for those in need every year.

School Supplies: Just as we believe that education promotes a healthy community for adult learners, we also know that education is especially important for children. Each year, CSU works with a local elementary school like Swift Consolidated Elementary School in Bon Secour, Alabama, to ensure their children had the school supplies they needed to feel confident for their first day of school.

Emergency Relief: When devastating floods hit Baton Rouge in 2016, the CSU corporate outreach team quickly worked together to send aid their way. Together, the faculty and staff were able to donate truckloads of blankets, canned goods, toiletries and more to our Louisiana neighbors.
