Columbia Southern University recently honored emergency management lead faculty David Milen, Ph.D., as the 2018 recipient of its Robert G. Mayes, Sr. Distinguished Faculty Award. Milen of St. John, Indiana, was recognized for his outstanding achievements and contributions in aiding the university in its mission to change lives through education.

Addressing Firefighter Health and Wellness [Webinar]

Firefighting is a dangerous and rigorous profession that can take a toll on the body and on the mind. According to the National Fire Protection Association, sudden cardiac death was the leading cause of on-duty firefighter deaths in 2015. In 2017, sudden cardiac death accounted for nearly half of the 60 fatalities.

CSU Employee Honored for Excellent Course Design

On June 26, 2018, representatives from Blackboard, Inc., a leader in virtual learning environments and course management systems, journeyed  to Columbia Southern University to present instructional designer Julia Hart with the Blackboard Exemplary Course Program Award for Liberal Arts Math. The Blackboard Catalyst Awards recognize faculty and course designers from schools, colleges and universities around the world who develop exciting and innovative courses that represent the very best in technology and learning. The Exemplary Course Program category honors courses demonstrating excellence in four areas: assessment, course design, interaction and collaboration, and learner support. This is the university’s second Blackboard Catalyst Award two years in a row, a rare honor.
