Call Issued for Presentations on Higher Education


ORANGE BEACH, Ala. —Columbia Southern University is inviting educators to submit presentation proposals for its online Excellence in Higher Education Conference 2016 on Sept. 27_28.

The conference will be broadcast online to help inform educators about proven practices, push the leading edge of the profession, and motivate the pursuit of creating a culture of excellence in higher education.

“We are very excited Columbia Southern University is able to provide a platform for educators to share their ideas about the current culture and quality of education,” said CSU Assistant Provost John Weidert, Ph.D.

“As our educational institutions continue to rapidly advance, it becomes more essential for educators to keep abreast of proven practices, concepts, and research in their field as a means to propel the quality and effectiveness of our learning environments into the future,” he added.

Presentation proposals must be submitted under one of the three following thematic strands that characterize the CSU conference:

  • The student experience: This encompasses the entire experience from prospect to alumni status and how faculty can impact all encounters in an exceptional way;
  • Student exceptionalism: This topic addresses critical thinking, positive communication, community involvement, citizenship, social and cultural awareness, as well as the ability to use mathematical and scientific principles in everyday applications, and;
  • Faculty and student engagement – This explores how faculty connect with students, pedagogy, innovative best practices, establishing clear expectations, and extending the learning environment through substantive feedback, rubrics and other grading practice

Presentations for these two full days of training are due by Aug. 29, 2016 and can be submitted at this CSU conference submission webpage. The two-day event will be broadcasted online at no cost for attendees. To learn more, email
