Dr. Scott Rounds

Dr. Scott Rounds acts as the vice provost of student affairs at Columbia Southern University located in Orange Beach, AL. With over 35 years of experience in the fire service and city management industry, Dr. Rounds has developed a reputation of expertise and professionalism. As a retired fire chief and public safety director/ assistant city manager, Dr. Rounds has facilitated and lectured throughout the United States at a variety of events and venues. A partial list of his speaking appearances includes the International Fire Chief’s Conference (2004, 2010, and 2013), the Arizona Fire Districts Association Conference ( 2008, 2009, and 2010), the Alabama Fire Chief’s Conference (2014), Tampa II (2014) and the International Public Works Association (2008). In addition to his highly sought after lectures and presentations, Dr. Rounds has also had several articles published nationally. His work has been featured in both PM Magazine (City Managers Magazine) and Fire Engineering Magazine. Dr. Rounds’ educational accomplishments include a doctorate of management in organizational leadership, a master’s in organizational management, the Executive Fire Officer (EFO) certification from the National Fire Academy, and the Chief Fire Officer (CFOD) designation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence. In addition, he is a certified paramedic, a hazardous materials technician, and a technical rescue technician. Dr. Rounds is further known for his teaching credentials. He is a NIMS (National Incident Management System) curriculum instructor, as well as a certified instructor in the ‘Blue Card’ incident command program. He has also acted as an adjunct professor for Columbia Southern University, where he instructed and developed curriculum for the fire science degree program.
