Admission Requirements

To qualify for the program, students must have vocational/technical work and/or training experience in military, business, industry or government, or vocational-technical course work earned through a community or technical college.

Transfer students with less than 20 academic credit hours.

Graduates of accredited secondary schools, who have graduated with at least a "C " average on all high school work attempted, may be considered for admission to UWA by presenting the following:

(1) a high school transcript showing date of graduation and credit for a minimum of fifteen acceptable units, and

(2) ) acceptable scores on either the American College Test (ACT) or Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). Student must have earned a composite score of at least 15 on the ACT or 740 on the SAT. A student who graduates from high school with less than a "C " average can only be admitted to the University by earning a composite score of 18 on the ACT or 870 on the SAT.

Transfer students with more than 20 academic credit hours.

Transfer students are eligible for admission to The University of West Alabama according to the following policies:

Unconditional Admission - Transfer students who (1) have earned 20 or more academic credit hours and at least a 2.00 average at previous institutions and (2) are eligible to return to the last institution which they attended on a full-time basis.

Conditional Admission - Transfer students who do not have an overall 2.00 grade point average but are eligible to return to the last institution they attended on a full-time basis will be admitted to the University on a probational basis. Students conditionally admitted must earn a 2.00 grade point average during a designated number of semesters as outlined in the acceptance letter they receive.

To Apply for Admissions in this UWA program, following the procedure below:

1. Submit the Online Application

2. Fax your resume to 208-361-7917.

3. If you have taken less than 20 academic credit hours, request your ACT or SAT scores be sent to UWA.

4. Request official transcripts be sent to UWA from all institutions previously attended, including military transcripts and discharge forms (AARTS / SMARTS / DD214) and vocational transcripts.

5. Submit other technical training support documentation to UWA.

After processing your application, UWA will notify you of your application status. If all required official documents are not included with your Application, it will be placed in “Pending Status.” You will receive an e-mail confirmation of this status from UWA along with a list of required documents.

You may begin your program during Pending Status if you wish. Once UWA is in receipt of all required documentation, the University will evaluate your application materials and verify whether or not you met the stated admissions requirements.
