Scholarship Details

Columbia Southern University (CSU) is proud to offer two, $12,600 (up to three-year) scholarships to members of the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC). This scholarship covers tuition only. Textbooks and fees will be the responsibility of the scholarship recipient. The CSU Book Grant/Loan-a-Book program does not apply to students utilizing a CSU scholarship.

Congratulations to Robert Bernard and Alyssa Cahoon as recipients of the National Volunteer Council Scholarship!

Scholarship winners must begin their coursework within 90 days of the date of the award. They will be required to maintain a 3.0 overall GPA, remain in good standing with both CSU and the NVFC throughout his or her degree program, and remain enrolled in the degree program.

Eligibility and Requirements

All scholarship applicants must:

  • have a high school diploma or GED,
  • be an active member of the NVFC,
  • complete the CSU/NVFC Scholarship Application,
  • provide at least one letter of recommendation (from a teacher or someone you reported to directly),
  • submit a 500-word essay on this subject: "Explain how the opportunity to continue your education through this scholarship will advance your participation in the fire and emergency services or enhance your ability to contribute back to the emergency services community."
