CSU associate, bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in occupational safety and health meet the educational requirements mandated by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals for the Associate Safety Professional designation (ASP) and the Certified Safety Professional designation (CSP).
In addition, CSU bachelor’s and master’s degrees in occupational safety and health and master’s degree in emergency services management have been approved by the Institute for Safety and Health Management as meeting the educational requirements for the Certified Safety and Health Manager designation (CSHM).
As a result of CSU's approval status with the ISHM, those who complete our bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health are eligible to receive the Associate Safety and Health Manager (ASHM) designation.

Get to Know Marc Greenfield
After being laid off from a job he held for more than 12 years, Marc Greenfield applied for numerous jobs in occupational safety and health. He was turned down many times and was told by employers that they felt more confident hiring a person with a degree, even if Greenfield had more experience than that candidate.
The former risk management worker decided to make a crucial career decision: He would get an occupational safety and health degree. After researching schools online, Greenfield chose CSU.
Greenfield said he was attracted to the online university’s self-paced, flexible class schedules and competitive tuition rates. He was further pleased with the 10 percent tuition discount he received via the CSU Learning Partnership Program and the textbooks at no cost grant. “No other school offered that,” he added.
Shortly before Greenfield graduated from CSU, he was hired by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. “I believe the fact that I was going to graduate soon with a degree in OSH helped me get hired."
And now he is very happy with his accomplishments at CSU. “The most important thing that I am most thankful to CSU for is that it helped me to get hired into the best and most satisfying job I have had in my adult life,” Greenfield said.
