Description

Addresses emergency planning and management from a facility level. Provides a basis for systematically identifying and evaluating the hazards that create the potential for disaster, along with guidelines for mitigating and minimizing the impact of those events.

Objectives

  1. Identify occupant, building, and business disaster planning issues.
  2. Define and examine the key elements of emergency preparedness.
  3. Describe natural and man-made disasters.
  4. Define terrorism and explain common categories.
  5. Describe major fire protection systems.
  6. Discuss the importance of building egress.
  7. Define and analyze the elements of a loss prevention program.
  8. Assess the key elements of managing risk.
  9. Explain how relations with the media should be handled during and after an emergency.
  10. Describe and evaluate the steps for developing and implementing an emergency plan.
