Explores the need for and use of quantitative methods in the healthcare environment. Quantitative analysis provides a proven mathematical format for healthcare leaders to make the practical decisions necessary to provide care for the burgeoning number of patients while balancing financing options and restraints.

Objectives

  1. Discuss the use and importance of quantitative analysis approaches in healthcare.
  2. Apply flowcharting principles and practices to diverse medical processes.
  3. Explain the concept and significance of time value of money (TVM) for managers and administrators in healthcare.
  4. Identify forecasting techniques to strengthen management decision-making in the medical environment.
  5. Analyze the production capability of a medical system.
  6. Apply queuing theory to provide better service for patients in healthcare waiting lines.
  7. Develop accurate and effective decision trees for utilization in decision analysis.
  8. Evaluate medical programs using economic analysis and program evaluation review technique (PERT).
  9. Apply quantitative skills in evaluating the financial outcome of programs and projects.
