John R. Willey, Ph.D.
Academic Program Director of Communications, Literature, & English
John began working for Columbia Southern University in the fall of 2010, teaching with the Department of English. He went to the University of Florida on a football scholarship and graduated in 1971 with a BA in English. After receiving two master’s degrees from the University of West Florida, he attended Florida State University, receiving his PhD in English in August 1991. At Florida State John majored in Modern American and Modern British Literature and wrote his dissertation on the early work of Ernest Hemingway.
He has taught for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Troy University, the University of West Florida, and Pensacola State College where he has written, maintained, and taught over a dozen online courses in WebCT, Blackboard, Angel, and Canvas. He has delivered papers at Wake Forest University, the University of Richmond, and Florida State University, and he received a John F. Kennedy Library Grant to work with the Hemingway Collection at the Kennedy Library.
