Registering for UWA's online
courses is much more convenient than registering for
campus based courses.
Students may submit their application
and register for their first course at the same time.
Students are allowed to begin their program while their
application is in "Pending Status". After
processing the application, UWA will notify the student
of official acceptance or notify the student of any
missing documentation. (Note: Students who have not
taken the GRE or MAT, may still apply and complete the
appropriate examination within their first semester).
UWA will issue a student
identification number and provide a password that will
enable you to access the University of West Alabama
Blackboard Server.
UWA's online programs operate
on an accelerated 10 week semester system referred to
as "sessions". There are four sessions yearly
(Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer). Most students register
for two courses per session. However taking a single course in the first session may enable a student to settle more comfortably into his/her academic program and develop a better sense of what is expected.
Doing so will enable you to settle comfortable into
your program and gain a sense of what is expected of
you.
Faculty
UWA's faculty plays a leading
role in creating a compelling learning experience. They
also act as a trusted source for individualized direction,
advice and support throughout the course. So, whether
you have a question about an assignment, want to test
ideas for a project or just want to pick an expert's
brain - you'll get direct help from your instructor.
Course Content
Each UWA online course is designed to provide the distance learning student with the same course content offered to resident students.
In developing content for UWA online classes, Resident Faculty who teach these classes on campus or highly qualified contracted professors have been called upon to bring their knowledge and classroom experience into the online educational environment.
