Students
who wish to enroll in UWA graduate studies must submit a formal
application. Applications should be submitted through CSU
in advance of the session start date.
Students
may submit their application and register for their first
course at the same time. Students are allowed to begin their
program while their application is in "Pending Status."
After processing the application, UWA will notify the student
of his/her acceptance status or inform the student of any
missing documentation needed for official acceptance. (Note:
Students that have not taken the GRE or MAT, may still apply
and complete the examination within their first semester).
To submit
an application, please follow the instructions below.
- Complete the Application
for Admissions.
- Submit the application along
with the processing fee.
- Submit copies of exam scores
and valid teaching certificates. Copies
of your GRE/MAT scores and valid teaching certificates should be
submitted via fax to the The Division of Online Programs (205) 652.3522.
- Request official transcripts
and exam scores be sent directly to UWA. You will
need to request official transcripts from all the institutions
where you earned academic credit. Request these transcripts
be sent directly to the University of West Alabama. To download
a Transcript Request form, click the link below. If official
transcripts are in your possession and are enclosed in a
sealed envelope from the issuing institution, you may forward
these directly to UWA.

Request an official record of your GRE or MAT score be sent
to the University of West Alabama. If you have not taken
the GRE or MAT, you may apply now and complete the examination
within your first semester.
- Receive notification from
UWA. After processing your application, UWA will
notify you of your application status. If all required official
documents are not included with your Application, it will
be placed in "Pending Status." You will receive
written confirmation of this status from UWA along with
a list of required documents. You may begin your program
during Pending Status if you wish. Once UWA is in receipt
of all required documentation, the School of Graduate Studies
will evaluate your application materials and verify
whether or not you meet the stated admissions requirements.
The University of West Alabama will notify you in writing
of their decision to admit or deny your application. Accepted
applicants will be forwarded a student identification number
and password to access the University of West Alabama's
Blackboard server. Students will also be provided a UWA
e-mail address.
Note: Students who begin classes while their Application
is in Pending Status should be certain they will meet admissions
requirements. If a student is denied admissions into the
program, the completed courses will not apply toward completion
of the degree program.
