Admissions Process

Students who wish to enroll in UWA graduate studies must submit a formal application. Applications should be submitted through CSU in advance of the session start date.

Students may submit their application and register for their first course at the same time. Students are allowed to begin their program while their application is in "Pending Status." After processing the application, UWA will notify the student of his/her acceptance status or inform the student of any missing documentation needed for official acceptance. (Note: Students that have not taken the GRE or MAT, may still apply and complete the examination within their first semester).

To submit an application, please follow the instructions below.

  • Complete the Application for Admissions.
  • Submit the application along with the processing fee.

If all required official documents are not included with your Application, it will be placed in "Pending Status." You will receive written confirmation of this status from UWA along with a list of required documents. You may begin your program during Pending Status if you wish. Once UWA is in receipt of all required documentation, the School of Graduate Studies will evaluate your application materials and verify whether or not you meet the stated admissions requirements.

The University of West Alabama will notify you in writing of their decision to admit or deny your application. Accepted applicants will be forwarded a student identification number and password to access the University of West Alabama's Blackboard server. Students will also be provided a UWA e-mail address.

Note: Students who begin classes while their Application is in Pending Status should be certain they will meet admissions requirements. If a student is denied admissions into the program, the completed courses will not apply toward completion of the degree program.
