National Volunteer Fire Council Scholarship
Columbia Southern University (CSU) is proud to offer two, two-year scholarships to members of the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC). Each scholarship will be applied to two consecutive year's towards the completion of one of CSU's associate, bachelor's, or master's online degree programs. If the scholarship recipient completes the selected degree program in less than 24 months, the remainder of the scholarship ceases.
This scholarship covers tuition only. Textbooks and fees will be the responsibility of the scholarship recipient. The CSU Book Grant/Loan-a-Book program does not apply to students utilizing a CSU scholarship.
The application period is currently open. Applications will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. CST on Sunday, September 15, 2014. Applicants should receive a confirmation email once all materials are successfully submitted. The scholarships will be awarded in October.
Scholarship winners must begin their coursework within 90 days of the date of the award. They will be required to maintain a 3.0 overall GPA, remain in good standing with both CSU and the NVFC throughout his or her degree program, and remain enrolled in the degree program.
Eligibility and Requirements
All scholarship applicants must:
have a high school diploma or GED,
be an active member of the NVFC,
complete the CSU/NVFC Scholarship Application,
provide up to two letters of recommendation, and
submit a 500-word essay on this subject: "Explain how the opportunity to continue your education through this scholarship will advance your participation in the fire and emergency services or enhance your ability to contribute back to the emergency services community."
